- sugar
- salt - 1/2 c
- water - 1 item
- vinegar - 1 qt
- celery seed - 2 Tbsp
- large cucumbers - 25 item
- onions, sliced - 12 item
- mustard seed - 2 Tbsp
- ginger root - 2 Tbsp
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Put cucumbers in cold water until crisp. Wipe dry and slice. Add onion slices and salt. Let it sit for 1 hour. Add 1-quart vinegar and a little water, sugar, mustard seed, ginger root and celery seed. Boil all together for 5 minutes.
