Beef and broccoli
Ingredients/Components
- pepper steak - 1 lb
- bunch broccoli - 1 item
- vegetable oil - 6 Tbsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- chicken broth - 1 c
- soy sauce
- sherry - 1 Tbsp
- sugar - 1 tsp
- sesame oil - 1/2 tsp
- dash of ginger powder - 1 item
- dash of garlic powder - 1 item
- cornstarch
How to make beef and broccoli:
Marinade:4 Tbsp. soy sauce1 Tbsp. sherry1 tsp. sugar1/2 tsp. sesame oil dash of ginger powder dash of garlic powder1 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch Trim fat and gristle from meat and discard. Cut steak against the grain into slices. Marinate meat for 3 or more hours.Pinch off broccoli flowers. Cut into half if too long. Wash them under cold running water and drain. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in frying pan over medium heat. When the oil is hot, add broccoli. Stir about 1/2 minute and add chicken broth. Stir and cover about 3 minutes. Stir occasionally until tender and crunchy. Remove from pan and set aside.
Heat remaining oil in pan over medium heat. When the oil is very hot, stir in beef slices. Cook each slice individually until the meat changes color (approximately 2 minutes). Return broccoli, without chicken broth, to the pan and stir quickly.
