- butter - 1/4 lb
- flour
- milk - 5 c
- nutmeg to taste - 1 item
- salt to taste - 1 item
- fresh pepper to taste - 1 item
How to make bechamel sauce:
In a saucepan combine butter and flour to make a roux; cook approximately 5 minutes, until roux is cooked. Then add warm milk in small amounts, stirring until all the milk has been added. Turn heat up and cook, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens.Recipe categories: Eggs/dairy, Egg, Side dish.
