Ingredients/Components
- pork spareribs - 4 lb
- medium onion, quartered - 1 item
- salt - 2 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- cider vinegar
- packed brown sugar - 1/2 c
- ketchup - 1/2 c
- chili sauce - 1/4 c
- Worcestershire sauce - 1/4 c
- chopped onion - 2 Tbsp
- lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
- dry mustard - 1/2 tsp
- garlic clove, minced - 1 item
How to make barbecued spareribs:
Sauce:1/2 c. cider vinegar1/2 c. packed brown sugar1/2 c. ketchup1/4 c. chili sauce1/4 c. Worcestershire sauce2 Tbsp. chopped onion1 Tbsp. lemon juice1/2 tsp. dry mustard1 garlic clove, minced Cut spareribs into serving-size pieces. In a large pot or Dutch oven, place ribs and onion; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Add enough water to cover ribs; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours or until tender. Drain. Combine all sauce ingredients in a saucepan. Simmer, uncovered, for 1 hour or until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally. Arrange ribs on a rack in a broiler pan. Brush with sauce. Broil 5-inches from the heat for 5 minutes on each side, brushing frequently with sauce. Makes 4 servings.Recipe categories: < 4 hours, Meat, Pork.
