Barbecued beef
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 2 tsp
- water - 1 c
- vinegar - 1/2 c
- shortening - 1 item
- dry mustard - 1 tsp
- paprika - 2 tsp
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 Tbsp
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- catsup - 1 c
- chuck roast - 3 lb
- buns - 1 item
- small head cabbage, finely shredded - 1 item
How to make barbecued beef:
Trim fat from meat and brown in shortening in a Dutch oven. Combine all other ingredients, except cabbage and buns. Place meat in a roasting pan, pour sauce over it and cover. Bake at 325° for about 3 hours. Remove meat from oven and shred with two forks. Mix with sauce in pan.* When ready to serve, heat meat in sauce and serve on buns with shredded cabbage.*Good to make ahead so flavors blend. Freezes well.
