Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 Tbsp
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- water - 1 c
- shortening - 2 Tbsp
- lemon juice - 2 Tbsp
- sweet butter - 3/4 lb
- ground walnuts - 1 lb
- filo - 1 pkg
How to make baklava:
Syrup:2 c. sugar1 c. water2 Tbsp. lemon juice Blend walnuts and cinnamon together. Butter pan. Cut filo to side of pan using. Put 1/3 of filo in pan for first layer and cover with 1/2 of nut mixture. Repeat. Finish with filo on top. Cut into diamond shapes and bake at 350° for 10 to 15 minutes. Melt butter and shortening together. Butter must be boiling but not brown. Pour over Baklava and cover loosely with foil and bake at 225° to 250° for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Pour warm syrup over hot baklava.Recipe categories: < 60 mins, For large groups, Oven.
