Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- shortening - 3/4 c
- eggs, well beaten - 2 item
- mashed potatoes - 1 c
- cake yeast - 1 item
- scalded milk - 1 c
- potato water warm - 1/4 c
How to make baked donuts:
Add shortening, sugar and salt to the scalded milk; cool to lukewarm. Add mashed potatoes and yeast that has been dissolved in the potato water. Blend in beaten eggs; work in flour gradually. Cover; let rise until light. Place on floured board; knead until smooth. Roll dough about 1/2-inch thick. Bake at 425° until delicate brown. Brush with melted butter. While still warm, roll in powdered sugar, white sugar or cinnamon sugar. These are very delicious.Recipe categories: Breads, Breakfast, Kid Friendly.
