  • sugar - 1 c
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • sour applesauce - 1 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • raisins if desired - 1 item

How to make applesauce cake:

Mix egg, sugar and shortening in a large bowl. Add baking soda to applesauce, then add to mixture in bowl. Add remaining ingredients. Mix thoroughly. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes or until done.
