Whole wheat biscuits
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- buttermilk - 3/4 c
- baking powder - 1 Tbsp
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- all-purpose flour - 1 c
- whole wheat flour - 1 c
- shortening Crisco solid - 1/2 c
How to make whole wheat biscuits:
Combine first 5 ingredients, mixing well. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add buttermilk; stir until moistened. Turn dough onto a floured surface; knead lightly 4 to 5 times. Roll dough to 1/2-inch; cut with 2 3/4-inch biscuit cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 450° for 10 minutes or until browned.
