Ingredients/Components
- milk - 2 c
- salt - 1/3 tsp
- flour - 4 Tbsp
- butter - 4 Tbsp
- dash of pepper - 1 item
- toast or crackers - 1 item
- grated mild or sharp cheese - 1 c
How to make welsh rarebit:
Heat butter in double boiler; remove from heat and add flour. Return to heat; add milk gradually, stirring constantly, until sauce boils. Add seasonings; simmer 5 minutes. Add grated cheese and stir until melted. Serve on toast or crackers (also good on macaroni).Variations: Add onion salt to sauce or mustard. Worcestershire sauce or sliced hard-boiled eggs are also good.
