Vinegar pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- butter - 1 Tbsp
- cornstarch - 1/2 c
- water - 2 c
- vinegar - 1/4 tsp
- cider vinegar - 1/3 c
- lemon flavoring - 1 tsp
- egg yolks, beaten - 3 item
- grated lemon peel optional
- Bring to a boil and let thicken
How to make vinegar pie:
Blend water with vinegar and cornstarch. Bring to a boil and let thicken. Stir in sugar, butter, flavoring, peel and egg yolks. Pour into a 9-inch baked pastry shell and let cool completely.Topping:3 egg whites1/4 tsp. vinegar1/3 c. sugar Beat egg whites stiff with vinegar. Add sugar to mixture and swirl over pie, sealing meringue well to pastry. Bake in slow oven, 325°, for about 20 minutes or until brown.Recipe categories: Desserts, Pie, Pies and tarts.
