Upside-down apple gingerbread

- sugar - 1/2 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- packed brown sugar - 1/3 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- all-purpose flour - 2 c
- molasses - 1/2 c
- ginger - 1 tsp
- butter or margarine, melted - 1/4 c
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
- hot tea - 3/4 c
- large apples, peeled and sliced - 2 item
How to make upside-down apple gingerbread:
Gingerbread:1/2 c. butter or margarine, melted1/2 c. molasses1/2 c. sugar1/3 c. packed brown sugar1 egg2 c. all-purpose flour1 tsp. baking soda1 tsp. cinnamon1 tsp. ginger1/2 tsp. cloves1/2 tsp. salt1/4 tsp. nutmeg3/4 c. hot tea Pour butter into a 9-inch square baking pan. Arrange apples over butter; sprinkle with brown sugar and set aside.For gingerbread, combine sugars, butter, molasses and egg in mixing bowl; mix well. Combine dry ingredients; add to sugar mixture alternately with hot tea. Mix well; pour over apples. Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes, or until cake tests done. Cool for 3 to 5 minutes. Loosen sides and invert onto a serving plate. Serve warm. Yield: 9 servings.
