  • chocolate chips - 12 oz
  • can Eagle Brand condensed milk - 1 item
  • bar wax - 1/4 item
  • white Karo syrup about 100 pecan halves - 1 c

How to make turtles:

You will need 3 or 4 cookie sheets lined with buttered wax paper.

First, place buttered wax paper on cookie sheets (if not buttered, hot caramel will stick to paper). Place pecan halves on cookie sheets, usually 1/2 to 1 inch apart. Second, boil the condensed milk and syrup for 15 minutes. Begin timing after mixture comes to a boil. Mixture will become thick and caramel colored. Drop about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of caramel onto nuts. Place cookie sheets in freezer to chill.

Melt chocolate chips and wax in microwave or in double boiler. Dip chilled nuts with caramel in chocolate. Place on clean wax paper. Can store at room temperature or freeze. Makes about 100 turtles.
