  • chopped pecans - 2 c
  • cold water - 2 Tbsp
  • sticks margarine - 2 item
  • white Karo - 1 Tbsp
  • 55 oz - 2 (1

How to make toffee:

Arrange nuts in a single layer on greased foil in a flat, approximately 9 x 13-inch, pan. Boil sugar, margarine, Karo and water, stirring constantly, to hard crack stage (300° on candy thermometer). Pour evenly over pecans. Break up candy bars and place on top to melt and spread. Let stand several hours for chocolate to harden. Break into pieces and store in an airtight container.

Hint: You can begin to cook on high heat but turn down to medium after it starts to boil to prevent scorching.
