Ingredients/Components

  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • flour - 3 c
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
  • cocoa - 2 tsp
  • cloves - 1/2 tsp
  • white sugar - 1/2 c
  • butter 1 1/2 sticks - 3/4 c
  • berry preserves - 1 c
  • sour milk or 2 tsp - 3/4 c

How to make blackberry cake:

Cream sugar and butter; add eggs. Add milk and berry preserves. Sift together dry ingredients and add to mixture. Last of all add vanilla and 1 1/2 teaspoons soda dissolved in 1/2 cup hot water. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.
