Ingredients/Components

  • water - 1/2 c
  • garlic salt - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped onion - 3/4 c
  • chili powder
  • can tomatoes, cut up - 1 oz
  • chopped green pepper - 3 Tbsp
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • shredded American cheese - 3/4 c
  • quick cooking rice - 1/2 c
  • can red kidney beans - 1 1/2
  • corn chips, crushed - 1 item

How to make texas beef skillet:

In skillet, cook ground beef and onion until meat is browned and onion is tender. Drain off fat. Stir in undrained tomatoes, undrained beans, rice, water, green pepper, chili powder, salt and garlic salt. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Top meat mixture with shredded cheese. Cover and heat about 3 minutes or until cheese melts. Sprinkle corn chips around edge. Makes 6 servings.
