- salt - 2 tsp
- flour - 3 Tbsp
- water
- shortening - 2 Tbsp
- paprika - 1 tsp
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- onion, sliced - 1 item
- round steak - 3 lb
- Heinz 57 sauce - 1/2 c
How to make swiss steak:
Cut meat into serving pieces. Dredge meat in mixture of flour, salt, paprika and pepper. Brown well in shortening. Add onion, 57 sauce and water. Pour over meat. Cover. Simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until meat is tender. Thicken liquid with a flour and water mixture.Recipe categories: American, Main dish, North american.
