Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 2 tsp
  • flour - 3 Tbsp
  • water
  • shortening - 2 Tbsp
  • paprika - 1 tsp
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • onion, sliced - 1 item
  • round steak - 3 lb
  • Heinz 57 sauce - 1/2 c

How to make swiss steak:

Cut meat into serving pieces. Dredge meat in mixture of flour, salt, paprika and pepper. Brown well in shortening. Add onion, 57 sauce and water. Pour over meat. Cover. Simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until meat is tender. Thicken liquid with a flour and water mixture.
