Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 c
  • eggs - 5 item
  • salt - 3 tsp
  • flour - 12 14
  • butter - 1 c
  • scalded milk, cooled slightly - 4 c
  • warm water or 3 pkg - 3 yeast,

How to make sweet dough:

Mix dissolved yeast, milk, salt, sugar, butter and eggs with electric mixer. Add flour, a little at a time, until well mixed. (When too thick for mixer, mix with hands.)

After completely mixed, put on floured board or countertop and knead with hands. Usually takes about 5 minutes. Grease large mixing bowl with shortening; add dough. Cover with dry towel and place in warm place away from drafts to rise. Let rise until double in size (a couple hours) and knead down again.

Dinner Rolls: Shape dough into dinner rolls and place in well-greased pans. Be sure to leave a little room for rising. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes.

Cinnamon Rolls: Divide dough into 4 parts. Roll each part into rectangle about 10 x 15 inches. Spread melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and nuts and raisins (optional) on the rectangle. Roll up. Pinch sides together and slice in 1/2 to 3/4-inch slices. Place rolls in well-greased pans and bake at 350° for 20 minutes. Rolls may be frosted after baking.
