Sweet and sour red cabbage
Ingredients/Components
- water - 1/4 c
- cider vinegar - 2 Tbsp
- dry red wine - 1/4 c
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- red cabbage, shredded - 5 c
- medium cooking apple, chopped - 1 item
- smoked sausage, sliced diagonally in thick chunks - 1 lb
How to make sweet and sour red cabbage:
Brown sausage and onion in skillet. Remove. In the same skillet, cook apple and cabbage in 1/4 cup water for 5 minutes. Return sausage and onion to skillet. Add vinegar, wine, salt, pepper and butter or margarine. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Serves 6.Recipe categories: Weeknight, Vegetables, Oven.
