Swedish rye bread
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 Tbsp
- milk
- salt - 1 tsp
- shortening - 2 Tbsp
- all-purpose flour
- molasses - 1/2 c
- warm water - 1/2 c
- yeast - 2 pkg
- medium rye flour
How to make swedish rye bread:
Combine milk, sugar and salt; stir. Beat in molasses, shortening and yeast mixture with 1 cup rye flour. Beat until smooth. Add remaining flour mix until dough leaves sides of bowl. Turn onto lightly floured board. Knead until smooth and no longer sticky. Bake in oven at 350° (makes 2 loaves). Bake until dark brown (not burnt).Recipe categories: Breads, Breakfast, Swedish.
