Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 1/2 c
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • water - 2 c
  • dairy sour cream - 3/4 c
  • egg - 1 item
  • all-purpose flour - 1/4 c
  • salad oil - 1/4 c
  • paprika - 1 tsp
  • pepper - 1/8 tsp
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp
  • snipped parsley - 1 Tbsp
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • minced onion - 1/2 c
  • dry bread crumbs - 3/4 c
  • ground lean pork - 1/2 lb

How to make swedish meatballs:

Combine beef, pork, onion, bread crumbs, parsley, 2 teaspoons salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, egg and milk; mix thoroughly. Refrigerate 2 hours. Shape mixture by rounded tablespoonful into balls. In a large skillet, slowly brown and cook meatballs in oil. Remove meatballs and keep warm.

Combine flour, paprika, salt and pepper and blend into oil in skillet. Cook over low heat, stirring until mixture is smooth and bubbly. Remove from heat. Stir in water. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Reduce heat and gradually stir in sour cream, mixing until smooth. Add meatballs; heat thoroughly. Serves 6 to 8.
