Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 3 item
- cup sugar - 1 item
- 1/2 cups flour - 3 item
- cup Crisco shortening - 1/2 item
- teaspoon baking soda - 1 item
- cup butter, softened - 1/2 item
- 1/2 teaspoons vanilla - 1 item
- teaspoons cream of tartar - 2 item
How to make sugar cookies:
Cream butter and shortening. Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine flour, cream of tartar and soda; add to creamed mixture, beating well. Stir in vanilla. Chill dough 2 hours. Work with half of dough at a time. Store remainder in refrigerator. Roll dough on lightly floured board to 1/4 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 425 degrees for 6 - 8 minutes or until lightly browned.
