Stuffed jumbo shells
Ingredients/Components
- ground beef
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- Mozzarella cheese, grated - 1/2 lb
- salt - 1 tsp
- Italian seasoning - 1 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- Pour Over Sauce - 1/4 c
- box jumbo shells - 1 item
- Brown ground beef and onion
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- garlic clove, minced - 1 item
- tomato juice - 3 c
- can tomato paste - 1 oz
- chili sauce - 2 Tbsp
- sugar - 1/2 tsp
How to make stuffed jumbo shells:
Cook shells according to directions on box. Brown ground beef and onion. Drain excess fat. Add seasonings and cheese. Cook 5 minutes. Stir in tomato sauce. Remove from heat and cool 5 minutes.Pour Over Sauce:2 Tbsp. cooking oil1/2 c. chopped onion1 garlic clove, minced3 c. tomato juice1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste2 Tbsp. chili sauce1 tsp. salt1/2 tsp. sugar1/4 tsp. pepper Saute onion and garlic in oil. Add tomato paste, tomato juice, chili sauce, sugar, salt and pepper. Simmer 10 minutes. Pour half the sauce in a 3-quart casserole. Stuff shells with meat filling; arrange in casserole and top with remaining sauce. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
