Stuffed cabbage
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 Tbsp
- brown sugar - 2 Tbsp
- eggs, beaten - 2 item
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- chopped onion - 1 c
- can tomato sauce - 1 oz
- ground beef - 1 lb
- chopped tomatoes - 1 (14
- juice of 1 lemon
- cooked rice - 2 c
- clove garlic, crushed - 1 item
- large head green cabbage - 1 item
How to make stuffed cabbage:
Cook rice. Add 12 cabbage leaves to 1 teaspoon salt/boiling water; let stand 5 minutes. Drain. Combine onions, garlic, meat, rice, eggs, pepper and 1 teaspoon salt. Place mound of meat mixture (1/2 cup) in hollow leaf; roll up, placing seam side down, single layer in lightly greased 13 x 9 pan. Combine, then pour sauce, tomatoes, lemon juice, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper and sugar over cabbage rolls. Cover and bake at 375° for 50 minutes and uncovered for 10 minutes.
