Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • margarine - 1 Tbsp
  • garlic salt - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • can tomatoes, cut up - 1 oz
  • chopped green pepper - 1/4 c
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • cottage cheese - 1 c
  • can tomato paste - 1 oz
  • grated Parmesan - 1/3 c
  • shredded Mozzarella cheese - 1/2 c
  • spaghetti - 6 oz
  • well beaten eggs - 2 item
  • dried, crushed oregano - 1 tsp

How to make spaghetti pie:

Cook spaghetti; drain (should have about 3 cups). Stir butter into spaghetti. Stir in Parmesan cheese and eggs. Form spaghetti mixture into a "crust" in a buttered 10-inch pie plate. Spread cottage cheese over bottom of spaghetti crust.

In a skillet, cook ground beef, onion and green pepper until vegetables are tender and beef is brown. Drain off excess fat. Stir in undrained tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, oregano and garlic salt. Heat! Turn meat mixture onto spaghetti crust. Bake, uncovered, in 350° oven for 20 minutes. Sprinkle Mozzarella cheese on top. Bake 5 minutes longer or until cheese melts. Makes 6 servings.
