Soften yeast in water, add flour and stir to mix. Put in a glass, ceramic or china container with a loose lid. Be sure the dish is as big as the starter expands. Let set at room temperature stirring once or twice a day for 3 days. The starter will work and have a definite sour odor. After the starter has soured, it can be stored in the refrigerator until used.Sourdough Bread:2 Tbsp. sugar1 tsp. salt1 c. starter1/2 c. corn oil1 1/2 c. warm water6 c. Put in greased pans and brush with oil. Let rise for 4 or 5 hours or all day. Cover with wax paper while rising. Bake at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes. Remove and brush with butter. Cool on rack and wrap well to store.
