Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 Tbsp
  • flour, sifted - 2 c
  • warm water
  • bread flour - 6 c
  • corn oil - 1/2 c
  • dry yeast - 1 pkg
  • starter - 1 c
  • Let stand until dissolved

How to make sourdough bread:

Sprinkle yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Let stand until dissolved. Stir well into large bowl with cover. Add remaining ingredients and stir well. Cover and let stand for 3 days at room temperature. Stir daily.Dough:1/2 c. sugar1/2 c. corn oil1 Tbsp. salt1 c. starter1 1/2 c. warm water6 c. bread flour Combine all dough ingredients in bowl. Grease another bowl. Place dough in bowl and turn over once to grease dough all over. Cover with foil and let stand overnight. Knead down next morning. Divide into loaves. Let rise at least 4 to 5 hours. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes. Use remaining starter for more dough.
