Seafood okra gumbo
Ingredients/Components
- water - 1 item
- cooking oil - 1 item
- bay leaf - 1 item
- green pepper, chopped - 1 item
- cloves garlic, chopped - 2 item
- shrimp - 2 lb
- crab meat - 2 lb
- medium onions, chopped - 2 item
- oysters - 1 qt
- seasoning to taste - 1 item
- cans whole tomatoes, chopped - 2 item
- okra, sliced - 2 lb
How to make seafood okra gumbo:
Cook shrimp in 2 quarts of water for about 30 minutes. Shell shrimp and save the broth. Cover bottom of a large pot with oil and add okra, onions, green pepper and garlic. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently until vegetables are done. (Vegetables are done when okra stops roping.) Add tomatoes and stir to blend. Add shrimp broth, oyster liquid, bay leaf and seasonings. Add shrimp and crab meat and simmer 45 minutes. Add oysters and cook until done, approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
