  • sugar - 2 tsp
  • milk - 2/3 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • vegetable oil - 1/4 c
  • all-purpose flour - 2/3 c
  • egg, beaten - 1 item
  • chopped onion - 1 c
  • chili powder - 1 tsp
  • clove garlic, crushed - 1 item
  • yellow corn meal - 1 c
  • frozen whole kernel corn - 1 c
  • pork sausage - 1 lb
  • can undrained tomatoes - 1 oz
  • can green chiles undrained - 1 oz

How to make sausage and cornbread pie:

Cook sausage, onion and garlic until meat is brown. Stir in crumbled meat that has been drained and add tomatoes, chiles, corn and chili powder. Simmer for 20 minutes. Spoon mixture into a greased baking dish and set aside.

Combine corn meal and next 4 ingredients; mix well. Combine egg, milk and oil. Add to dry ingredients. Spread corn meal mixture over sausage mixture and bake for 40 minutes at 375°.
