Sausage and apple appetizers



  • butter or margarine - 2 Tbsp
  • cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
  • firmly packed brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • warm water - 2 Tbsp
  • large onion, chopped - 1 item
  • apple jelly - 1/2 c
  • apples, peeled, cored and sliced - 3 item
  • cocktail size smoked sausages - 2 lb

How to make sausage and apple appetizers:

In a large skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add onion and saute, stirring constantly, until onion is golden. Stir in apple jelly and brown sugar. Add sausages and reduce heat to medium-low. Cook, stirring occasionally, 20 minutes or until mixture begins to thicken. Add apples; partially cover pan and cook 10 minutes or until apples are tender. Combine cornstarch and water and stir into mixture in pan. Cook 2 to 3 minutes more or until mixture thickens. Serve warm. Yields about 30 appetizers.
