Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • boiling water - 2 c
  • shortening - 2 Tbsp
  • warm water - 1 c
  • yeast - 2 pkg
  • plain flour add 4 c - 8 c

How to make refrigerator rolls:

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Set aside. Mix salt, 1/2 cup sugar, shortening and boiling water in large bowl. In smaller bowl, mix eggs and 2 tablespoons sugar. Beat well until the sugar is dissolved. Add to mixture in large bowl. Add 4 cups flour to mixture and stir well, then add the yeast and water and mix well. Add last 4 cups flour and stir real well. Cover and let rise in refrigerator. Punch down. Form in balls the size of walnuts. Place in greased pan, not touching. Cover and let rise until doubled.

Bake at 425° until brown. Dough keeps in refrigerator, covered, for 1 week. Can use for cinnamon rolls.
