Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • cocoa - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • vinegar - 1 tsp
  • plain flour
  • red food coloring - 1 oz
  • box powdered sugar - 1 item
  • Wesson oil
  • Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, vanilla and vinegar

How to make red velvet cake:

Sift dry ingredients together. Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, vanilla and vinegar. Mix thoroughly. Add food coloring and mix well. Spread batter in greased and floured cake pans. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or until done. Remove from pan; let cool.Frosting:1/2 c. margarine1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese1 box powdered sugar1/2 tsp. vanilla1 c. chopped nuts Cream margarine and cream cheese. Mix well. Add powdered sugar and beat until creamy. Add vanilla and nuts. Spread on cake.
