  • salt - 1 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • oil - 2 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • cocoa - 2 Tbsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • vinegar - 1 tsp
  • plain flour
  • red food coloring - 2 oz
  • box sifted confectioners sugar - 1 item
  • Add vinegar and food coloring; beat well

How to make red velvet cake:

Cream sugar and oil; add eggs and beat well. Add vinegar and food coloring; beat well. Sift dry ingredients; add alternating with milk. Add vanilla, beat well. Pour into cake pan. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.Frosting:1 stick oleo1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese1 tsp. vanilla1 box sifted confectioners sugar1 c. chopped nuts Cream oleo with cream cheese. Add vanilla and confectioners sugar. Mix well. Add nuts and spread on cake.
