  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • vinegar - 1 tsp
  • stick butter - 1 item
  • red food coloring - 2 oz
  • cake flour - 2 c
  • box powdered sugar - 1 item
  • Combine buttermilk and vinegar

How to make red velvet cake:

Sift together flour, cocoa, salt and soda. Combine buttermilk and vinegar. Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and beat well. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk and vinegar mixture and beat well. Add food coloring and mix together.Frosting:8 oz. cream cheese1 stick butter1 box powdered sugar1/2 c. chopped nuts Mix all together and spread over cake.
