Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • cream cheese - 8 oz
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • stick margarine - 1 item
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • cocoa - 2 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • vinegar - 1 tsp
  • red food coloring - 2 oz
  • cake flour
  • Beat well
  • Mazola oil makes it very moist - 2 c

How to make red velvet cake:

Mix all ingredients together. Beat well. Bake in well-greased and floured cake pans. May use two or three layers. Bake at 350° for 35 minutes.Frosting:1 box 10x sugar8 oz. cream cheese1 stick margarine1 tsp. vanilla1 c. chopped nuts Cream margarine and cream cheese. Add sugar, vanilla and nuts. Mix well. Spread between and around layers.
