  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • cocoa - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • nuts - 1 c
  • plain sifted flour
  • box powdered sugar - 1 lb
  • Wesson oil
  • Beat well
  • bottle red food coloring - 1 oz

How to make red velvet cake:

Cream sugar, oil and eggs. Beat well. Sift together flour, soda and salt. Mix coloring and cocoa; add coloring mixture to egg and beat well until blended. Cook in 3 cake pans at 350° for 35 minutes or until done.Icing:1 stick butter1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese1 lb. box powdered sugar1 c. nuts1 Tbsp. vanilla Cream butter and cream cheese. Add sugar, nuts and flavoring. Blend until smooth.
