- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- butter - 1/4 lb
- cocoa - 2 Tbsp
- baking soda
- vinegar - 1 Tbsp
- cake flour - 2 c
- sour or buttermilk - 1 c
- bottle red coloring - 2 oz
How to make red velvet cake:
Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Make paste of coloring and cocoa. Add to creamed mixture. Mix salt with vanilla and milk. Add alternately with flour. Mix soda with vinegar; fold into mixture. Bake in two layers of 9-inch pans. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, American.
