  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • butter - 1/4 lb
  • cocoa - 2 Tbsp
  • baking soda
  • vinegar - 1 Tbsp
  • cake flour - 2 c
  • sour or buttermilk - 1 c
  • bottle red coloring - 2 oz

How to make red velvet cake:

Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Make paste of coloring and cocoa. Add to creamed mixture. Mix salt with vanilla and milk. Add alternately with flour. Mix soda with vinegar; fold into mixture. Bake in two layers of 9-inch pans. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
