- milk - 1 c
- salt - 3/4 tsp
- flour
- butter - 1/2 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- cocoa - 3 Tbsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- vinegar - 1 tsp
- red food coloring - 2 oz
- Make a paste of cocoa and food coloring
How to make red velvet cake:
Combine soda and buttermilk. Make a paste of cocoa and food coloring. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs; combine flour and salt. Add paste, then flour alternately with buttermilk, vanilla and vinegar. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.Icing for Red Velvet Cake:3 Tbsp. flour1 c. milk1 c. butter1 c. sugar1 tsp. salt Mix together flour and milk. Cook until thick. Let cool completely.
