Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- vinegar - 1 Tbsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- butter flavoring - 1/4 tsp
- butter flavor - 1 tsp
- milk approximately - 5 Tbsp
- Make a paste of cocoa and food coloring
- level cocoa - 3 Tbsp
- two 1/2 oz - 1 oz
How to make red velvet cake:
Cream shortening, sugar, salt, eggs and flavors. Make a paste of cocoa and food coloring. Add to first mixture. Alternately add flour and buttermilk. Mix soda and vinegar in a small bowl; add to batter. Blend. Bake in three 8 or 9-inch pans that have been greased and floured. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 350° or until tests done. Let cool completely. Cover with frosting.No Cook Icing:1 lb. confectioners sugar, sifted1/2 c. shortening1 Tbsp. vanilla1/4 tsp. butter flavoring1/2 tsp. salt5 Tbsp. milk (approximately) Sift confectioners sugar.
