Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 3 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk - 4 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 3 Tbsp
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • cocoa - 1 Tbsp
  • sticks margarine - 2 item
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • vinegar - 1 Tbsp
  • red food coloring - 2 oz
  • cake flour
  • egg whites, slightly beaten - 2 item
  • Mix together the vinegar, cocoa and food coloring

How to make red velvet cake:

Cream the sugar and butter; add eggs. Mix together the vinegar, cocoa and food coloring. Add to creamed mixture. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to mixture alternately with buttermilk. Add vanilla and beat with mixture thoroughly. Bake in layers 30 minutes at 350°.Icing:2 c. sugar4 c. milk2 egg whites, slightly beaten3 Tbsp. flour Cook until sticky. Add 4 cans coconut.
