  • eggs - 4 item
  • sugar - 2 c
  • melted butter - 1 c
  • nutmeg - 2 tsp
  • cinnamon - 2 tsp
  • cloves - 2 tsp
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • prune juice - 1 c
  • prunes, cooked and pitted - 2 c
  • plain flour
  • Dissolve soda in prune juice
  • cornstarch - 2 tsp
  • brown sugar - 3/4 c
  • butter - 1 Tbsp

How to make prune cake:

Beat eggs and add sugar and melted butter. Dissolve soda in prune juice. Sift flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves and baking powder together. Add prune juice and prunes to egg mixture. Add flour mixture and mix well. Bake in layers (9-inch pans) at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.Cream Filling:1 1/2 c. milk2 tsp. cornstarch3/4 c. brown sugar1 Tbsp. butter Cook until thickened. Spread between layers. Frost with brown sugar or chocolate frosting.
