Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 c
- eggs - 6 item
- vanilla extract - 1 tsp
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- pinch of salt - 1 item
- shortening - 1/2 c
- lemon extract - 1 tsp
- sifted plain flour - 3 c
- sweet milk - 1 c
- country butter or 2 sticks margarine - 1/2 lb
How to make pound cake:
Cream butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together. Add to creamed mixture alternating with milk. Add flavoring. Pour into greased and floured large tube pan and bake at 325° for 1 hour and 30 minutes or until test done.For Chocolate Pound Cake, add 1/3 cup cocoa to dry ingredients.
