  • salt
  • flour - 3 Tbsp
  • baking powder - 3/4 tsp
  • salad oil - 1 item
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • eggs, slightly beaten - 3 item
  • small onions, chopped - 3 item
  • medium sized potatoes - 9 item

How to make potato latkes:

You will also need colander, a pancake turner and a frying pan.

Wash potatoes thoroughly. Grate the potatoes. Let potatoes sit for 10 minutes. Use the colander to remove excess water. Fry the chopped onions in just enough salad oil to cover the bottom of frying pan. Add fried onions to drained potatoes. Stir in eggs. Add the flour, pepper, salt and baking powder. Mix thoroughly. Drop the batter by tablespoons into a frying pan with about 1/4-inch of hot salad oil. Flatten with metal pancake turner. When latkes become brown, turn and brown other side. Serve with applesauce or sour cream.
