  • sugar
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • butter - 2 Tbsp
  • nutmeg - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 2 c
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • baking soda - 2 tsp
  • all-purpose flour - 6 to
  • cooking oil - 1 item
  • eggs, lightly beaten - 2 item
  • hot mashed potatoes - 2 c

How to make potato doughnuts:

Combine in a bowl the first 4 ingredients. Stir into mixture the butter, soda, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and flour to form a soft ball. On a floured surface, pat dough to 3/4-inch thickness. Cut with a 2 1/2-inch floured doughnut cutter. In electric skillet, heat 1 inch of oil to 350°. Fry 2 minutes per side. Dip tops into frosting or coat with sugar.
