Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- brown sugar - 1 Tbsp
- cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
- clove garlic - 1 item
- can mushrooms - 1 item
- whole chicken - 1 (3
- shoyu - 1/3 c
- grated fresh ginger - 2 Tbsp
- liquid shortening - 2 Tbsp
- green onions or Chinese parsley - 1 item
How to make pot roast chicken:
Mix ginger, garlic, salt, shoyu and sugar and rub it over chicken inside and out. Heat liquid shortening and brown chicken well on all sides. Add remaining mixture and liquid from mushrooms. Cover and simmer until done. Remove chicken and cut into pieces. Make gravy with remaining liquid and cornstarch; add mushrooms. Pour over chicken and garnish with green onions or Chinese parsley.Option: Add 1 teaspoon of red or cayenne pepper into mixture for those who like it spicy!
