Poppy seed cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- butter - 1 c
- eggs, separated - 4 item
- sour cream - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- poppy seed - 2 oz
- vanilla or almond flavoring - 3 tsp
How to make poppy seed cake:
Cream sugar and butter. Add egg yolks. Combine sour cream and soda in separate container. Blend together. Add flour, poppy seed and flavoring. Fold in beaten egg whites. Bake in ungreased angel food cake pan for 1 hour at 350°. Check in 15 minutes. If too brown on outside, turn heat to 325° for remainder of hour. Invert pan to cool.
