Pinto bean casserole
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 3/4 tsp
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- oil
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- egg, beaten - 1 item
- Worcestershire sauce - 2 tsp
- chopped onion - 1/3 c
- chili powder - 2 tsp
- hamburger - 1 lb
- self-rising cornmeal - 10 Tbsp
- cooked pinto beans - 2 c
- canned tomatoes or 1 c - 2 c
How to make pinto bean casserole:
Brown hamburger and onion; drain off fat. Add Worcestershire sauce, chili and tomatoes or catsup. Add beans. Pour into a 13 x 9-inch casserole. Mix the flour, cornmeal, buttermilk, egg and oil. Stir until blended. Spread on top of bean mixture. Bake for 20 minutes at 425°. Good with slaw or tossed salad.Recipe categories: Vegetables, Main dish, Beans.
