Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- cold water - 1/3 c
- vegetable shortening - 1/4 c
- cold butter - 1/4 lb
How to make pie pastry:
Combine the flour and salt in a large bowl. Cut in the butter and shortening until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Add the water, 1 tablespoon at a time, tossing until the dough forms a ball. Add more than 1/3 cup water, if needed.Divide the dough in half and shape into two disks. Wrap and chill at least 20 minutes.
