  • sugar - 1/3 c
  • egg whites - 3 item
  • cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp

How to make perfect meringue:

Beat egg whites with cream of tartar until peaks form. Beat in sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time. Continue beating until meringue is stiff. Spread over pie filling and seal to crust. Bake in a 400° oven until lightly browned. Cool in warm and draft free place. Covers 9-inch pie.
