Ingredients/Components

  • butter - 1 Tbsp
  • hot water - 1/2 c
  • chopped onion - 1/4 c
  • dry white wine - 2 Tbsp
  • salt and pepper - 1 item
  • top round steak - 1 lb
  • beef bouillon cube - 1 item
  • green pepper, cut in 1-inch squares - 1 item
  • fresh sliced mushrooms - 2 c

How to make pepper steak:

Slice steak diagonally into 1/8-inch thick strips. (Steak will slice easier if nearly frozen.) Melt butter in skillet. Add onion and cook until limp. Remove from pan. Add meat to skillet and brown on either side. Return onion to skillet. Dissolve bouillon in water; add to meat, cover and cook about 15 minutes. Add green pepper and mushrooms. Cover and cook 5 minutes. Add salt, pepper and wine; let cook 5 minutes longer.
